We are seeking a dependable, customer-focused Automotive Service Advisor to serve as the primary point of contact between our customers and our service technicians. The ideal candidate is organized, communicates well, understands automotive repair, and can help customers make informed decisions about maintaining and repairing their vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers and determine their vehicle service and repair needs.
- Listen to customer concerns and accurately document symptoms and requested services.
- Create and manage repair orders from vehicle drop-off through completion.
- Communicate repair needs, technician findings, estimates, and recommendations clearly to customers.
- Obtain customer authorization before additional repairs or services are performed.
- Coordinate with technicians to prioritize work and keep jobs moving efficiently through the shop.
- Provide customers with accurate updates regarding repair status and expected completion times.
- Review inspection results and explain recommended maintenance or repairs in easy-to-understand terms.
- Provide estimates for parts, labor, and services.
- Follow up on declined or deferred repairs when appropriate.
- Order or coordinate parts as needed and verify parts availability for scheduled work.
- Schedule service appointments and help manage the daily shop workload.
- Maintain accurate customer, vehicle, and repair-order information in the shop management system.
- Review completed repair orders for accuracy before customer checkout.
- Process customer payments and explain invoices and warranties.
- Handle customer questions or concerns professionally and work toward appropriate resolutions.
- Build long-term customer relationships and encourage repeat business.
- Maintain communication between the front office, technicians, management, and customers.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and professional customer service area.
- Follow company policies, safety procedures, and customer-service standards.
Sales & Customer Service Expectations
The Service Advisor is not simply an order taker. This position is responsible for helping customers understand the condition of their vehicle and the value of recommended repairs and maintenance.
The Service Advisor should:
- Confidently present technician recommendations without using high-pressure sales tactics.
- Educate customers about safety concerns, preventative maintenance, and repair priorities.
- Clearly distinguish between immediate/safety needs, recommended repairs, and future maintenance.
- Identify opportunities to improve the customer's vehicle reliability and safety.
- Follow up with customers regarding previously declined work.
- Help the shop achieve sales and productivity goals while maintaining customer trust.
Qualifications
- Previous Service Advisor expirence a plus
- Strong customer-service and communication skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally in person, by phone, text, and email.
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of automotive repair and maintenance.
- Ability to understand technician recommendations and explain them to customers.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced automotive repair environment.
- Ability to manage multiple customers, repair orders, technicians, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn automotive shop-management software.
- Valid driver's license.
- Previous automotive service advisor, parts, technician, or customer-service experience preferred.
Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
