Staffworks Group is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to support manufacturing operations by developing, verifying, and optimizing CNC programs for large-format machining centers. This position is responsible for creating and maintaining CNC programs using Siemens NX CAM, supporting production teams, improving machining processes, and ensuring the highest levels of quality, safety, and productivity.
Pay Range $60-$63
The ideal candidate has experience programming complex 4-axis and 5-axis CNC equipment, working with large components, and supporting shop floor operations in a high-precision manufacturing environment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Develop, modify, and maintain CNC programs using Siemens NX CAM or similar CAD/CAM software.
- Program and support a variety of large CNC machines, including:
- Vertical Turning Lathes (VTL) up to 2.5 meters
- Vertical Boring Mills (VBM) up to 2.5 meters
- Large 5-Axis Head-to-Head Gantry Machines
- Multi-Purpose Vertical Turn/Grind Machines
- Verify CNC programs using Vericut or equivalent simulation software before production release.
- Implement Renishaw probing cycles for part validation, in-process inspection, and error detection.
- Create CNC programs that comply with established machining standards and qualified cutting parameters.
- Provide technical programming support to Manufacturing Engineers and CNC operators.
- Assist with new machine startups, machine rebuilds, and process improvements.
- Troubleshoot CNC programming, machining, tooling, and process-related issues on the shop floor.
- Develop and maintain machining methods, setup documentation, and workstation instructions.
- Support tooling, fixturing, and workholding design and implementation.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, cost reduction, and manufacturing efficiency.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, maintenance, and production teams to improve manufacturing performance.
- Manage multiple projects while maintaining production schedules and quality standards.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of CNC programming experience using a graphical CAM system.
- Experience with Siemens NX CAM is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, tooling, and manufacturing methods.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.
- Strong shop mathematics including geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to work independently and within a cross-functional manufacturing team.
