Job Summary:
Directs activities of child development facility to provide instruction and care for children. Provides leadership and direction for child care programs to include Child Care Licensing, Subsidy and Resource and Referral. Responsible for the overall operation of the assigned areas including services, staffing, budgeting, and reporting. Also responsible for compliance with applicable Cherokee Nation, federal, state, funding or other agency requirements and regulations.
Job Duties:
Establishes and formulates financial goals and objectives for assigned areas and each function within the program(s). Develops and implements long and short term financial plans for the program - primarily plans for services, staffing, and budgets. Provides direction to subordinate management and staff in matters of program operations. Coordinates, assigns and delegates the activities and functions to the appropriate staff. Communicates and reports program operational information and activities to administrative officials, including Cherokee Nation administrative officials, as appropriate. Participates in formulating and administering policies and developing long-range goals and objectives. Directs and coordinates activities of department or division for which responsibility is delegated to further attainment of goals and objectives. Reviews analyses of activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine department or division progress toward stated goals and objectives. Confers with Executive Director and other administrative personnel to review achievements and discuss required changes in goals or objectives resulting from current status and conditions. Ensuring curriculum and developmentally appropriate practices are in place in the center. Ensuring licensing standards are met and assisting in the accreditation process for the center. Prepares required paper work and reports as needed. Provides for proposal development and writes for program grants. Prepares and maintains reports as required. Communicates and reports department operational information and activities to Executive Director, Human Services. Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages 12 subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of more than 100 employees in the Child Care and Development. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
Bachelor's degree from 4-year college or university in Early childhood education, Education or Business Administration or field related; no substitutions, Master's preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
An additional six (6) years experience in a related field.
COMPUTER SKILLS
An individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Must be able to operate computers and standard office equipment and be able to manage a large staff. Should be well versed in child care accreditation and licensing standards.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working in an inclusive work environment and managing across differences. Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.
