Converting Supervisor, Corrugated

A corrugated box manufacturing facility in Richmond, VA is seeking an experienced Converting Supervisor to lead shift operations within the Converting department. This is a hands-on production supervision role with direct responsibility for safety, personnel management, KPI tracking, and workflow coordination on an alternating rotating shift schedule. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.
Schedule
Rotating shift schedule: 2 days, 2 nights, 2 off, 4 nights, 5 off. Candidates must live within 45 miles of the facility or be willing to relocate.
Compensation
$95,000 - $120,000 Per Year
What You'll Do
You will supervise Converting department personnel across your assigned shift, overseeing day-to-day operations in coordination with the Production Manager to meet production targets and staffing requirements. That includes monitoring and managing KPIs and production goals, tracking workflow, and holding personnel accountable to performance standards within the facility's document management system.
Safety leadership is a core expectation of this role. You will champion safety improvements across the facility, lead by example on the floor, and actively support the production team in maintaining a safe operating environment within the Converting department. You will identify and escalate safety concerns and drive continuous improvement initiatives in partnership with plant leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of Converting Supervisor experience within a corrugated box or corrugated packaging manufacturing facility
- Lean or Six Sigma certification at Green Belt level or higher
- Ability to work a rotating shift schedule including nights
- Strong personnel management and production floor leadership skills
- Experience tracking and managing production KPIs and workflow in a manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a related technical discipline
- Six Sigma Black Belt certification
- Experience with continuous improvement initiatives in a corrugated or paper packaging environment
- Familiarity with document management or production management systems in a manufacturing setting
- Prior experience managing converting equipment such as flexo folder gluers, rotary die cutters, or specialty folder gluers
