American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Department position at a Level II Trauma Center, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ED experience and an active IL RN license.

Combined adult and pediatric Emergency Department in a 280-bed acute care hospital
-
Level II Trauma Center and STEMI-certified facility
-
32-bed ED with an average daily census of 120 patients
-
Patient ratio of 1:4 for all shifts
-
Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
-
Weekends required as needed
-
Floating within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities is required for all travelers
-
No on-call responsibilities
-
Charting system: Cerner (experience preferred)
-
Royal blue scrubs required
-
Active IL RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
-
Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI cards not accepted)

Preferred certifications: ENPC and NRP
-
Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
-
Level II Trauma Center experience required (Level I also accepted)

Experience in a combined adult/pediatric ED required
-
Cardiac monitoring skills: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, 12-lead EKG acquisition, and multisystem organ dysfunction management
-
IV/phlebotomy skills: blood product administration, central line care/management, phlebotomy, and starting IVs
-
Medication skills: continuous IV paralytics, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation
-
Neurological case experience: CVA, neuro-trauma, ICP monitoring, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
-
Respiratory skills: chest tube management, BiPAP/CPAP, ABG interpretation, intubation, and ventilator management
-
Shock/trauma experience: gunshot wounds and traumatic amputation

Pediatric case experience: abdominal pain, asthma, burns, epiglottitis, head injury, hyperglycemia, abuse identification, infections, mental/behavioral health, near drowning, poison ingestion, respiratory infections, seizures, sickle cell crisis, skin disorders, spinal cord injury, and UTIs

Psychiatric case experience: acute psychosis, drug overdose, managing violent behavior, psychiatric holds, and suicidal patients

Proficiency in triage and isolation precautions/PPE

Ortho-trauma experience required

SSN and DOB required for consideration

Cerner EMR experience preferred

Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction

Candidates who were previously permanent or PRN employees of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before being considered as a traveler

Travel pairs are not accepted at this facility

RTO is ideally no more than 5 non-holiday days per assignment

Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays

Day 1 orientation is virtual and conducted from home; all assigned modules must be completed by 4:00 PM CST on Day 1
