Overview

Duties
- Review and analyze medical records to assign precise ICD-10, ICD-9, CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes for inpatient and outpatient services.
- Ensure coding compliance with current regulations and guidelines to support accurate reimbursement.
- Prepare and submit electronic claims using physical patient charts, EMR (Electronic Medical Record) and EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems for timely processing.
- Manage accounts receivable by following up on unpaid or denied claims through medical collection efforts and insurance third-party billing.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation discrepancies and improve coding accuracy.
- Maintain detailed records of coding activities, billing transactions, and insurance correspondence for audit readiness.
- Support revenue cycle management by verifying insurance coverage, processing payments, and managing patient billing inquiries.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical coding with proficiency in ICD-10, ICD-9, CPT coding, DRG assignment, and coding for inpatient services.
- Strong knowledge of health insurance policies, third-party billing procedures, and revenue cycle management practices.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for electronic health record management related to billing and coding processes.
- Excellent understanding of medical terminology, medical records documentation standards, and healthcare compliance regulations.
- Ability to navigate insurance claims processing, medical billing workflows, and collection strategies effectively.
- Prior experience working in a medical office setting or healthcare environment is highly preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
