Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of dental assistants and support staff to ensure efficient clinic operations.
- Assist the dentist during various procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, utilizing chairside assisting skills.
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control protocols are strictly followed.
- Manage patient flow by greeting patients, updating medical records, verifying insurance information, and scheduling appointments using EMR systems such as Dentrix.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), operate 3D scanners, and perform vital signs assessments to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Maintain comprehensive medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations while ensuring confidentiality of patient records.
- Support the dental team with administrative tasks such as medical coding, data entry into Epic or other electronic health record systems, and managing medical records.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with a strong background in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry preferred.
- Proficiency in dental software such as Dentrix for managing medical documentation and records.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control procedures, aseptic techniques, and anatomy relevant to dental practice.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while maintaining safety standards; familiarity with 3D scanners is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients about procedures and oral health practices.
- Certification in dental assisting or related fields; additional training in pediatrics or prosthodontics is advantageous.
