THE CLIFF HOUSE AT PROSPECT BERKSHIRES
Prospect is a year-round retreat comprised of 49 modern cabins, a pool house, saunas, a boat launch, and the Cliff House. It is situated on 30 acres along the edges of Prospect Lake in Egremont, in the Berkshire Mountains. Reimagined by a local design team rooted in the community, Prospect will usher in a new era of lakeside recreation and reconnection.
Prospect Resort plans to expand its food and beverage offerings beyond the Cliff House to accommodate events, poolside concessions, and private gatherings on the grounds.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
To uphold the highest standards in all preparation, production, and execution of culinary tasks and cleaning as directed by the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs. As an on-call member of the team, you will step in to support events and back-ofhouse operations as business needs require. All team members are expected to arrive at work with a positive, can-do attitude, a willingness to receive feedback, and the ability to adapt to business levels and needs.
POSITION AND OVERVIEW
This is an on-call position supporting the execution of events and daily operations across both day and night services. Because event and staffing needs vary, the schedule is irregular and may change from week to week, with shifts sometimes offered on short notice. This role may also include covering shifts for full-time back-of-house staff. Understanding the foundational operating procedures and service steps is crucial for the restaurant’s success. From processing deliveries and raw ingredients to effectively setting up and breaking down stations, adhering to standardized recipes is the only way. Roll up your sleeves and dive in to support the team as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
● Coordinate with the Executive and Sous Chefs to execute events during day or night services
● Provide coverage for full-time back-of-house staff as needed
● Adapt to an irregular, on-call schedule driven by event and business needs
● Manage quality control, hygiene, upholding health and safety standards for food service
● Maintain inventory, control waste, practice FiFo
● Learn all recipes, and the appropriate cooking techniques and modifications
● Maintain consistent quality following all standardized CLIFF HOUSE recipes
● Taste food for proper seasoning
● Prepare assigned station for service with quality consistency
● Maintain focus and calm during service, which can become high-pressure
Through service, its essential to stay organized and communicate with team
● Participate in daily cleaning of kitchen and equipment
● Actively participate in team meetings
● Adhere to internal HR policies
QUALIFICATIONS & CHARACTERISTICS OF SUCCESS
● At least two years working in a professional, commercial kitchen setting, preferably in a restaurant
● Availability and flexibility to respond to on-call scheduling, including days, nights, and weekends
● Passion for food, exceptional work ethic, and dedication
● Possesses the desire to be punctual and demonstrate excellent time management
● Passion for organization is essential
● Possess a positive approach to problem-solving
● Strong commitment to excellence: Always do the right thing, especially when no one is looking ● Ability to maintain organization and consistency with a strong attention to detail

WORK ENVIRONMENT
We expect our staff to adhere to all CLIFF HOUSE policies and procedures created to comply with the restaurant industry's federal and state safety and sanitation regulations.
Because this is an on-call position, shifts are scheduled around event and staffing needs and may be offered on short notice. Breaks are scheduled around service needs and may vary in timing from shift to shift. Staff will be standing throughout their shift.
Staff will comply with the Dress Code Policy, including appropriate footwear and uniforms for a professional environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
All staff must be able to stand for long periods. To execute tasks, they must frequently reach and bend. They must also be able to lift up to 50 lbs and firmly grasp trays, plates, and glassware.
SCHEDULE + COMPENSATION
● This is an on-call position with an irregular schedule that varies from week to week based on events and staffing needs
● Shifts may fall during day or night services and may be offered on short notice
● May include coverage for full-time back-of-house staff
● The Prospect is open every day with three meal periods
● Pay: hourly wage starts at $25 and increases depending on experience.
