Senior Commercial & Residential HVAC Service Technician
Location: Coos Bay, Oregon
Job Type: Full-Time
Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. (Some evenings, weekends, and on-call rotation required)
Pay Scale: $30.00 – $35.00 per hour DOE
Position Summary
Addcox Heating Center is seeking an experienced Senior Commercial & Residential HVAC Service Technician to join our growing service team. This position is intended for a highly skilled technician capable of independently diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and commissioning a wide variety of residential and commercial HVAC systems.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five (5) years of HVAC service experience and possess strong troubleshooting abilities across multiple equipment types. Experience with commercial refrigeration systems, oil-fired heating equipment, and boiler systems is highly desirable. Previous experience serving as a senior or lead field technician is preferred.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum five (5) years of HVAC service experience
- EPA Universal Technician Certification
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
- No DUI, DUID, or DWAI convictions within the past 36 months
- Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check and drug screening
- Ability to climb ladders and safely operate lifts and elevated work platforms
- Ability to lift, bend, twist, crawl, and perform physical job duties without restrictions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a senior or lead field technician
- Associate degree in HVAC, trade school certification, or completion of a recognized apprenticeship program
- NATE Certification
- Low Voltage Electrical Certification
- Advanced Controls Experience (DDC, BACnet, Modbus, or equivalent)
- Experience with oil-fired heating systems
- Experience with commercial refrigeration systems including walk-in coolers, freezers, reach-ins, ice machines, and refrigeration controls
- Experience with hydronic and boiler systems
General ResponsibilitiesService & Technical Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, maintain, and commission residential and commercial HVAC equipment
- Diagnose and repair commercial refrigeration systems including walk-in coolers, freezers, reach-ins, ice machines, and specialty refrigeration equipment
- Diagnose and repair oil-fired heating systems
- Diagnose and repair hydronic boiler systems
- Perform advanced electrical troubleshooting and refrigeration diagnostics
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, control sequences, and mechanical plans
- Layout and install refrigeration piping systems when required
- Install and troubleshoot low-voltage control wiring systems
- Perform airflow diagnostics, static pressure testing, and air balancing
- Verify system operation and performance according to manufacturer specifications
- Ensure compliance with applicable mechanical, fuel gas, electrical, and building codes
- Operate service tools, testing equipment, ladders, lifts, and specialty equipment safely
- Complete service repairs as approved by customers
- Accurately document all work performed
Customer Service Responsibilities
- Communicate professionally with homeowners, business owners, facility managers, engineers, and contractors
- Clearly explain system operation, repair recommendations, and replacement options
- Educate customers on preventative maintenance benefits
- Promote maintenance agreements and service programs
- Identify opportunities for system enhancements, controls upgrades, indoor air quality products, and energy-saving solutions
- Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude at all times
Administrative Responsibilities
- Arrive at job sites at scheduled times and locations as dispatched
- Relocate between job sites throughout the workday as required
- Report arrival, departure, and job status updates as required
- Operate company vehicles in a safe and professional manner
- Complete all service tickets, forms, and documentation accurately and promptly
- Report vehicle, tool, inventory, and equipment concerns immediately
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements
- Participate in the on-call rotation and emergency service coverage schedule
- Perform other duties as assigned
