Role Overview:
BEPC Inc. is seeking a highly experienced Mechanical Design Validator to support a leading aerospace customer within their Engines & Power Systems organization. This role is ideal for a seasoned mechanical engineer with extensive expertise in engineering drawing interpretation, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), model-based definition practices, and aerospace design validation.
The selected candidate will serve as a technical authority responsible for validating engineering drawings, models, and design documentation to ensure compliance with ASME standards, manufacturing requirements, and aerospace industry best practices. This position also provides mentorship and technical guidance to engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional aerospace engineering teams to develop innovative solutions that meet customer and program requirements.
- Serve as a technical validator for aerospace engineering drawings, ensuring complete definition and compliance with company and industry standards.
- Review engineering drawings and 3D models for proper application of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Evaluate designs for correct implementation of model-based definition (MBD) practices and standards.
- Perform model validation activities to verify design intent and manufacturability.
- Assess designs for manufacturing feasibility, producibility, and cost optimization.
- Support product development and production phases by providing technical expertise and design validation guidance.
- Mentor and coach less experienced engineers on drawing standards, GD&T application, and engineering best practices.
- Participate in the continued development of technical validation processes within the Engines & Power Systems organization.
- Review legacy drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with current standards.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of mechanical design experience.
- Extensive experience interpreting, reviewing, and validating engineering drawings.
- Deep understanding and practical application of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Strong experience with engineering drawing standards, model-based definition practices, and design validation processes.
- Proven ability to work independently and drive technical decisions with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with gas turbine engine components and aerospace propulsion systems.
- Advanced expertise in ASME drawing standards and GD&T implementation.
- Experience supporting detailed design activities throughout the product lifecycle.
- Experience reviewing and maintaining legacy drawings and specifications.
- Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and coaching experience.
- Experience coordinating engineering activities and leading small technical teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
