Responsibilities
- Engage with customers in person, over the phone, and via digital channels to understand their project needs and provide tailored product recommendations.
- Demonstrate product features through live demos, sketches, or layout designs using tools like SketchUp or CAD software.
- Assist clients with lighting design, interior layout planning, and remodeling ideas to enhance their spaces.
- Upsell complementary products such as fixtures, lighting, or finishing materials to maximize sales opportunities.
- Process transactions accurately using POS systems and handle cashing out while maintaining excellent customer service.
- Build strong customer relationships through effective communication, follow-up, and personalized service to encourage repeat business.
- Maintain organized stock displays, ensure merchandise is well-stocked and properly merchandised according to merchandising standards.
- Collaborate with team members on inventory management, product ordering, and stock replenishment to keep the sales floor vibrant and inviting.
- Conduct product demos and educate customers on installation techniques or maintenance tips for long-lasting results.
- Stay informed about industry trends in renovation, construction materials, lighting design, and remodeling innovations to better serve clients.
Experience
- Proven experience in outside sales or retail sales within the building materials or construction industry preferred.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, renovation techniques, interior design principles, and lighting solutions.
- Technical proficiency with SketchUp, CAD programs, Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel), CRM systems, and POS systems is highly desirable.
- Excellent negotiation skills with a track record of closing deals effectively while maintaining customer satisfaction.
- Multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse client bases.
- Experience with merchandising strategies, upselling techniques, and product demonstrations enhances success in this role.
- Prior background in remodeling & fixture sales or construction sales will provide valuable insight into customer needs and project workflows.
