Position Summary
Our customer manufactures and refurbishes precision granite metrology products, including surface plates, master squares, parallels, straight edges, and custom granite components. They are looking for a detail-oriented Surface Grinder with experience working to tight tolerances and producing high-quality precision products.
This position is responsible for operating precision surface grinding and lapping equipment, performing dimensional inspections, reading engineering drawings, and ensuring finished products meet customer specifications and industry flatness standards.
Primary Responsibilities
- Operate precision surface grinding and lapping equipment.
- Grind and finish granite surface plates and precision measuring products.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Measure and inspect finished products using precision measuring equipment.
- Perform machine setup, routine maintenance, and quality inspections.
- Complete production documentation and maintain traceability.
- Safely handle granite products using cranes, hoists, or other lifting equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 2 years of manufacturing or precision machining experience.
- Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Strong math skills and attention to detail.
Preferred
- Experience with surface grinding or precision lapping.
- Experience working with granite, ceramic, or other precision materials.
- Familiarity with metrology equipment, calibration methods, and precision inspection.
- Experience operating overhead cranes or other material handling equipment.
