Ambient Recruiting is partnering with a growing Northern Michigan manufacturer that produces high-performance optical products requiring exceptional precision, consistency, and craftsmanship. We are seeking Precision Assembly Technicians to join a clean, controlled manufacturing environment where quality is built into every step of the process.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong manual dexterity who enjoys detailed, hands-on work. Whether your background is in electronics, medical devices, small-parts assembly, quality inspection, or another precision-focused environment, your skills could translate well into this position.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Precision Assembly Technician, you'll:
- Assemble mechanical, electrical, and optical components according to detailed work instructions and engineering specifications
- Perform precision assembly tasks in a clean, controlled manufacturing environment
- Follow contamination-control practices, including the use of gloves, gowns, and other required protective equipment
- Follow Electrostatic Discharge control requirements when handling sensitive components
- Rotate between assembly stations to support different stages of the production process
- Conduct in-process quality inspections and verify the accuracy of your own work
- Use microscopes or other magnification equipment when required
- Maintain a clean, organized, and controlled workstation
- Follow all safety, quality, cleanliness, and procedural requirements
- Work closely with team members to meet production schedules and customer commitments
What We're Looking For
Successful candidates typically have:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Entry-level to mid-level experience in manufacturing, assembly, or a related field
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
- Ability to follow detailed written instructions and established procedures
- Consistent focus when completing repetitive or intricate tasks
- Team-oriented mindset with the flexibility to rotate between workstations
- Reliable attendance and a commitment to producing high-quality work
Preferred Qualifications
- Precision assembly experience involving optics, electronics, medical devices, or small components
- Familiarity with cleanroom or controlled manufacturing environments
- Experience using microscopes for assembly or quality inspection
- Basic Microsoft Word and Excel skills
- Experience using an ERP system, with Epicor experience considered a plus

Real Talk
This position requires patience, concentration, and excellent attention to detail. You'll work with small and sensitive components, follow strict cleanliness and ESD procedures, and inspect your own work throughout the assembly process. Some tasks may involve microscopes, repetitive hand movements, and extended periods of focused precision work.
The strongest candidates will be comfortable following exact procedures, maintaining a controlled workstation, and consistently producing assemblies with minimal defects.
