We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide exceptional care and assistance to individuals with diverse needs. Duties
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, and mobility support
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, medication administration, and overall well-being, ensuring adherence to care plans
- Support residents with meal preparation, feeding, and nutritional needs while maintaining a clean and safe environment
- Utilize patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts and proper manual handling techniques to ensure safe mobility assistance
- Document care activities accurately while respecting HIPAA regulations to maintain confidentiality of resident information
- Provide companionship and emotional support, fostering positive communication and engagement with residents
- Assist with medication management, including administering prescribed medications safely under supervision when required
Requirements
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, and neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism is advantageous
- Ability to perform patient observation, monitor vital signs, and recognize signs of distress or medical emergencies
- Experience with patient transfer methods like Hoyer lifts and patient personal care assistance is essential
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards in healthcare settings
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required (classes available); additional certifications in medication administration or manual handling are a plus
- Excellent communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting, assist with transfers, and provide long-term caregiving support
