Overview
We are seeking a skilled and mechanically inclined Fuel Truck Mechanic to join our team. This position is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of fuel delivery equipment on light-duty and medium-duty service trucks. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with fuel transfer systems, pumps, plumbing, electrical components, and related fueling equipment.
Responsibilities
Diagnose, repair, and maintain fuel delivery trucks and fuel transfer systems.
Remove and install fuel transfer pumps, including brands such as GPI (G-Pro) and Fill-Rite.
Perform fuel system plumbing repairs and modifications, including piping, fittings, valves, and fuel transfer components.
Replace and service air compressors, fuel nozzles, reels, hoses, and related equipment.
Troubleshoot and repair 12V and 24V electrical systems associated with fuel transfer equipment.
Install wiring, switches, relays, battery connections, and control systems.
Perform preventative maintenance inspections on company vehicles and fuel equipment.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and fuel system issues and recommend corrective actions.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
Respond to occasional emergency repairs outside normal business hours when required.
Qualifications
Experience working on light-duty and medium-duty trucks.
Previous experience with fuel delivery trucks or fuel transfer equipment preferred.
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Experience replacing and servicing fuel pumps, including GPI (G-Pro), Fill-Rite, and similar systems.
Knowledge of fuel plumbing systems, fittings, valves, and hose assemblies.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including wiring, relays, switches, and charging systems.
Experience servicing air compressors and pneumatic components.
Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
Valid driver’s license required.
CDL is a plus but not required.
Preferred Skills
Welding and fabrication experience.
Hydraulic system knowledge.
Tank installation and fuel system modification experience.
Familiarity with DOT and fuel industry safety regulations.
