American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position requiring 2 years of SICU experience and Level I Trauma exposure in a Level I Trauma teaching hospital setting.

Work in the Surgical ICU (SICU) of a Level I Trauma hospital caring for trauma and transplant patients
-
High acuity unit with patient ratios of 1:1-2
-
Day shift schedule with 4x12-hour shifts (7:00-19:30)

Required to work every other weekend
-
Floating required to other adult ICUs and stepdown units as needed
-
Uses Epic charting system
-
Union facility with no special scheduling accommodations; must be able to work all 7 days
-
Contract lengths of 13, 20, or 26 weeks accepted

Active or conditional MA RN license accepted, with active pursuit of permanent licensure required

Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; TCAR certification preferred
-
Minimum 2 years of SICU experience required (1.5 years accepted with prior travel and Level I Trauma experience)

Level I Trauma experience required

Skilled in arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
-
Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and respiratory failure care
-
Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation, and dysrhythmia management
-
Renal experience including CVVHD/CRRT and pre/post hemodialysis management preferred

Must pass a pass/fail tele test at orientation with one attempt allowed
-
Must pass a pass/fail medication exam at orientation

Two professional references required, with at least one from a Nurse Manager or higher
-
Provide critical care nursing to high-acuity surgical, trauma, and transplant ICU patients

Participate in massive transfusion protocol and hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun management as needed

Complete pre-start and orientation modules, with additional annual module requirements

Minimal RTO desired, with a preferred length of 3-5 days; no RTO allowed in the first week
-
Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate within a 75-mile radius
-
Returning staff must have a 12-month separation from the health system before reapplying
