Duties
- Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that meet each student’s unique needs and goals
- Develop engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, incorporating specialized techniques such as speech therapy, behavioral management, and literacy education
- Adapt teaching methods to accommodate students with autism, hearing impairments, developmental disabilities, or other special needs
- Collaborate with speech therapists, behavioral health specialists, and other professionals to support comprehensive student development
- Manage classroom behavior through effective classroom management strategies and positive reinforcement techniques
- Conduct assessments using standardized testing and progress monitoring tools to evaluate student growth and adjust instruction accordingly
- Provide tutoring, mentoring, and additional support to help students succeed academically and socially
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Childhood Development, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
- Valid teaching certification/license for special education or equivalent credentials
- Proven classroom experience working with students with disabilities or special needs in various settings such as private schools, preschools, or early intervention programs
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development, lesson planning, and literacy/math instruction tailored for diverse learners
- Experience with IEP development and implementation, including accommodations and modifications
- Familiarity with behavioral therapy techniques, behavior management strategies, and communication skills development
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with colleagues, parents, and specialists
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing classroom dynamics while maintaining a positive learning environment
