Welder
Welders are responsible for using hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld or join metal components.
Duties
- Analyze drawings and blueprints to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations. Develop templates and models for projects using calculations based on blueprint information.
- Position, align and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembling using straight edges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.
- Prepare materials to be welded following all safety guidelines and policies
- Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
- Chip or grind off excess weld, slag or spatter using hand scrapers or power chippers.
Qualifications
- Proficient with hand and power tools
- Ability to read tape measures
- Attention to detail
- Great mathematical skills with construction knowledge
- Must be able to travel nationally
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or general education diploma (GED)
- Technical Certification
