Senior Irrigation Technician
Reports To: Commercial Maintenance Manager
Status: Full-Time | Hourly, Non-Exempt
Position Summary
The Senior Irrigation Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and optimizing commercial and residential irrigation systems while delivering exceptional customer service. This role serves as the lead field technician, ensuring irrigation systems operate efficiently, safely, and in accordance with company standards. The Senior Irrigation Technician mentors team members, identifies enhancement opportunities, and maintains accurate documentation within Aspire.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair irrigation system failures, including electrical, hydraulic, valve, controller, and wiring issues.
- Repair and install irrigation components, including mainlines, lateral lines, valves, sprinkler heads, rotors, nozzles, drip irrigation, and controllers.
- Perform irrigation startups, inspections, system audits, and winterizations.
- Program and troubleshoot conventional and smart irrigation controllers.
- Conduct preventative maintenance inspections to identify deficiencies and improve water efficiency.
- Document labor, materials, and completed work accurately in Aspire.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked service vehicle and company equipment.
- Identify and communicate irrigation renovation and enhancement opportunities.
- Mentor and assist in training Irrigation Technicians.
- Represent Parker's Landscape Services professionally while providing outstanding customer service.
- Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Support other company divisions during seasonal fluctuations or the irrigation off-season as business needs require. This may include assisting with landscape maintenance, enhancement installations, snow and ice management, or other operational activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of commercial irrigation experience.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Extensive knowledge of irrigation hydraulics, electrical systems, valves, controllers, and pumps.
- Experience with two-wire irrigation systems.
- Commercial irrigation installation experience is preferred, including installing mainlines, lateral lines, valves, controllers, and related irrigation components.
- Knowledge of smart irrigation controllers and water management technology.
- Ability to read irrigation plans and as-built drawings.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple service calls.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Preferred Certifications
- Certified Irrigation Technician (CIT)
- Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor (CLIA)
- Backflow Certification
- North Carolina Irrigation Contractor License (if applicable)
