We are looking for a candidate to fill our Electrical and Instrumentation Technician position. This position provides service on PLC Systems, Electrical Systems, Electrical Controls, VFD’s, Motors, Motor Controls, and Industrial Production Equipment of all types. The person will be performing these services at our customers’ locations. Overtime is required, typical work week is 40-50 Hours.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Inspects a variety of automated process information, control equipment and electrical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, HVAC, and electro-mechanical systems such as found in a wastewater treatment plant and/or related industrial facilities.
- Installs, performs preventive maintenance on, repairs, programs, and replaces such equipment.
- Troubleshoots equipment problems, and recommends time, equipment, and materials required to affect repairs; makes emergency repairs as required.
- Reads and interprets specifications, diagrams, manuals, and other documentation.
- Designs equipment installations and modifications; makes required mathematical calculations; prepares schematics and diagrams for documenting installations; determines supplies and materials required.
- Confers with facility staff to determine equipment problems; suggests methods of minimizing such problems.
Required Skills:
- PLC Programming, Allen Bradley, Siemens, and others
- HMI Programming, Allen Bradley, Siemens, and others
- VFD Programming & Trouble shooting
- PID’s, Instrumentation 4-20ma / 1-5 / 0-10.
- Operation and use of Electrical Multimeters
- Advanced Troubleshooting Skills are required
- Knowledge of 480/277, 230 3-Phase Systems required
- Knowledge of 120 Single Phase down to 24vdc is a must
- Ability to read and comprehend circuit diagrams or drawings, simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
· Must have a minimum of five years satisfactory experience in industrial-type PLC programming or equivalent amount of technical schooling and experience.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Demonstrate leadership skills (communications, teamwork, problem solving, decision making)
· Must be capable of reading and interpreting electrical schematics.
· Must have experience with 24 VDC through 480 VAC power and control systems.
· Must be able to safely use test equipment for troubleshooting.
· Must have experience with 4-20 ma instrument circuits.
· Must have programming and troubleshooting knowledge of Allen Bradley programmable controllers.
· Must have an understanding of packaging and industrial automation processes.
· Processing equipment understanding a plus.
