Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team for the day shift from 7am to 7pm. This role involves providing comprehensive patient care across various settings, including acute, chronic, and long-term care environments. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in diverse nursing practices, including critical care, geriatrics, and specialized patient populations such as those with developmental disabilities or dementia. You will play a vital role in assessing patient needs, administering treatments, and ensuring the highest standards of safety and comfort.
Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following HIPAA regulations and medical protocols.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations including specimen collection/processing, phlebotomy, and basic imaging procedures.
- Provide specialized care for patients with conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, infectious diseases, or post-acute recovery needs.
- Maintain detailed medical documentation in compliance with healthcare standards and ICD coding (ICD-9/10).
- Ensure infection control practices are rigorously followed to maintain aseptic techniques and prevent hospital-acquired infections.
Requirements
- Valid LPN or RN license with current state licensure.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology relevant to acute and chronic patient care.
- Ability to perform venipuncture, IV insertion/insertion techniques (including IV infusion), catheter care, and sterile procedures confidently.
- Experience managing patients with complex needs such as those requiring hospice care or behavioral health support is desirable.
- Excellent patient assessment skills combined with compassionate communication tailored to individuals with disabilities or cognitive impairments such as Alzheimer’s or dementia.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; additional certifications like ACLS or PALS are a plus.
