Westak is one of the premier manufacturers of Military, Aerospace and Commercial Printed Circuit Boards. We are seeking a PCB (Printed Circuit Board) Commodity Buyer to work on-site, in our California facility.
The Commodity Buyer sources and purchases PCBs, manages supplier relationships to meet production schedules, quality standards, and budget targets. Key responsibilities include negotiating contracts, analyzing quotes, managing the supply chain, and reducing risks. They require strong technical knowledge of electronics, analytical skills, and proficiency in ERP systems.
The ideal candidate has a desire to learn and work hard, is able to multitask, prioritize, and stay calm under pressure.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Supplier Sourcing & Management: Identify, evaluate, and develop supplier partnerships; lead supplier KPI reviews (quality, delivery).
- Negotiation & Contracting: Negotiate pricing and terms
- Order Management: Execute purchase orders, manage demand, and expedite deliveries to avoid shortages or excess inventory.
- Quote Analysis: Review RFQs (Request for Quotations), analyze cost breakdowns, and align with engineering on technical specifications.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of PCB manufacturing and materials.
- Experience: Proven experience in procurement, preferably in electronics or manufacturing.
- Analytical Skills: Proficiency in Excel, MRP/ERP systems and data-driven decision-making.
- Communication: Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
Performance Indicators:
- Cost reduction targets (savings).
- Supplier on-time delivery (OTD).
- Quality metrics (e.g., PPM - Parts Per Million).
- Inventory accuracy and turnover.
