Join our dynamic team as a Swine Farm Technician and play a vital role in maintaining the health, welfare, and productivity of our swine livestock. This energetic position involves hands-on animal care, and farm operations to ensure optimal livestock performance. You will work closely with a dedicated team to implement best practices in animal husbandry, biosecurity, and farm machinery operation, contributing to the success of our livestock management goals and excellent animal care.
Duties
- Provide daily care for swine, including feeding, watering, cleaning, and monitoring health status.
- Assist with livestock handling and restraint to ensure safe and humane treatment during routine procedures.
- Conduct health assessments, blood sampling, and veterinary procedures to maintain optimal animal welfare.
- Operate farm machinery and equipment safely for tasks such as feed delivery, sanitation, and facility maintenance.
- Maintain accurate records of livestock health, and biosecurity protocols.
- Implement sanitation procedures to uphold farm biosecurity standards and prevent disease outbreaks.
Requirements
- Prior experience or training in agriculture, livestock management, or animal husbandry is preferred.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and team lifting tasks safely in a farm environment.
- Knowledge of livestock handling techniques, animal restraint methods, and general farm machinery operation.
- Familiarity with genetics, and livestock health management is highly desirable.
- Mechanical aptitude combined with basic math skills for record keeping and equipment troubleshooting.
- Strong commitment to animal welfare, biosecurity measures, and sanitation standards.
- Experience with veterinary procedures such as blood sampling or administering medications is a plus; equine experience is beneficial but not required.
