Responsibilities
- Operate cash registers and POS (Point of Sale) systems accurately during retail transactions, including cash handling and processing credit/debit payments
- Provide friendly and professional customer service by answering questions, offering product demos, and upselling items to enhance the shopping experience
- Stock shelves efficiently, ensuring products are well-organized, properly priced, and fully stocked to meet customer demand
- Assist in merchandising efforts by arranging displays that attract customers and promote featured products
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sales floor, stockroom, and checkout areas
- Support department leads in supervising team members, overseeing daily store operations, and ensuring adherence to company policies
- Handle customer inquiries via phone with excellent phone etiquette and clear communication skills
Skills
- Proven experience with POS systems and cash register operations in a retail or grocery environment
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally
- Demonstrated supervising experience or leadership capabilities in a retail setting
- Knowledge of retail math for cash handling, sales calculations, and inventory management
- Ability to perform basic math accurately for transactions and stock counts
- Experience with merchandising techniques and product demos to engage customers
- Bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse customer bases effectively
- Familiarity with grocery store operations or retail sales transactions is preferred
- Excellent communication skills combined with phone etiquette for customer interactions over the phone or in person
