Certified Nursing Assistant Job Description
Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Nursing Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to patients in various settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and home care environments. This role requires a strong commitment to patient care and the ability to work effectively with individuals of all ages, including those with developmental disabilities and memory impairments.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding
- Monitor and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and blood pressure
- Provide basic patient care under the supervision of nursing staff
- Assist in the administration of medications as directed by healthcare professionals
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Utilize EMR/EHR systems for patient information management
- Support patients with mobility needs using equipment such as Hoyer lifts
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Engage with patients in a compassionate manner to promote their emotional well-being
- Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance caregiving skills
Requirements
- Certification as a Nursing Assistant or equivalent experience in a healthcare setting
- Experience in critical care, long-term care, assisted living, or home care preferred
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and physiology knowledge
- Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner is advantageous
- Experience working with diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, and individuals with disabilities
- Knowledge of basic life support (BLS) techniques and aseptic techniques is beneficial
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Compassionate demeanor with a commitment to providing high-quality patient service
