Leaders in Community Alternatives, Inc. (LCA) is a criminal justice organization that has provided reentry services throughout California since 1991. LCA delivers evidence-based services designed to reduce recidivism and promote successful community reintegration. Programs include cognitive behavioral interventions, case management, employment services, in-custody reentry programming, day reporting centers, and community-based supervision support.
We are currently seeking qualified applicants for a Reentry Navigator position to support LCA's In-Custody and Reintegration Services Program in partnership with the San Joaquin County Probation Department. This position provides direct services to justice-involved individuals both while incarcerated and upon release into the community.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Reentry Navigator provides intensive reentry support, case management, systems navigation, and evidence-based programming to justice-involved individuals participating in the In-Custody/Reintegration Services Program. Services are delivered within correctional facilities, community-based offices, Day Reporting Centers, and other approved service locations.
The Reentry Navigator assists participants in identifying and overcoming barriers to successful reintegration by connecting them to housing, employment, education, healthcare, substance abuse treatment, mental health services, transportation, and other community resources. Services are guided by evidence-based practices, including Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Interventions (CBI), and risk-needs-responsivity principles.
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Reentry Navigator communicates and coordinates with program management, Probation staff, custody personnel, community partners, and other stakeholders in the performance of their assigned duties. The position requires the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while maintaining professional boundaries and participant confidentiality.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide reentry and reintegration services to justice-involved participants in custody and in the community.
- Conduct participant intake, enrollment, orientation, and assessment activities.
- Develop individualized service plans based on participant strengths, needs, goals, and criminogenic risk factors.
- Maintain an assigned caseload and provide ongoing case management support.
- Meet regularly with participants to review progress, address barriers, and update service plans.
- Coordinate referrals and linkages to housing, employment, education, vocational training, healthcare, behavioral health treatment, substance use treatment, transportation assistance, and other community-based services.
- Assist participants in obtaining identification documents, public benefits, employment resources, and other supports necessary for successful reintegration.
- Facilitate participant engagement in evidence-based programming and supportive services.
- Facilitate cognitive behavioral groups and workshops, including approved curricula such as Getting Beyond the Wall, Cognitive Behavioral Intervention-Core Adult (CBI-CA), Aggression Replacement Training (ART), Matrix Model, and other assigned programming.
- Conduct pre-release planning activities to support successful transitions into the community.
- Provide post-release follow-up and support services to ensure continuity of care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, case conferences, and collaborative planning meetings.
- Monitor participant attendance, engagement, and progress in programming.
- Document participant contacts, assessments, referrals, attendance, service plans, and progress notes in the agency's electronic case management system.
- Assist with data collection, outcome tracking, and reporting requirements.
- Observe and report significant participant behaviors, concerns, or safety issues to appropriate supervisory staff.
- Maintain confidentiality of participant information in accordance with agency policy and applicable laws.
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities.
- Complete required training and certification requirements related to evidence-based practices and program operations.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Human Services, Counseling, or a related field preferred.
- Associate degree with relevant experience may be considered.
- Experience working with justice-involved populations, community corrections, reentry services, behavioral health services, substance use treatment, social services, or related fields preferred.
- Experience facilitating groups and providing case management services preferred.
- Experience utilizing Motivational Interviewing and evidence-based practices preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must possess a valid California Driver's License.
- Must have reliable transportation and maintain automobile insurance as required by law.
- Ability to pass all required background screening requirements.
- Ability to enter and work within correctional facilities and comply with institutional security procedures.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable, but not required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with participants, staff, Probation personnel, custody staff, community partners, and stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining accountability and professionalism.

Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
