Electrical Field Engineer
Onsite - Houston, TX (40-70% travel to facilities/sites)

Job Summary:
The Electrical Field Engineer/Specialist provides subject matter expertise within the client's Engineering and Technical Services group to support the safe, reliable operation of clients' diverse generation fleet. This role requires extensive knowledge of power plant maintenance and operations, strong communication skills, and the ability to provide leadership and technical guidance to generation facilities. The ideal candidate has significant experience in a utility-scale power generation environment, including inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and replacing critical electrical equipment and systems. Relevant experience may come from on-the-job training, military service, trade school, or university education
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Apply hands-on knowledge and experience to test, troubleshoot, and repair key electrical equipment, including: Large power generators; Large three-phase motors rated 4kV and above; Switchgear and motor control centers (MCCs); Excitation equipment; Protective relays; High-voltage breakers, including vacuum, oil, and SF6 types; Large power transformers
- Read and interpret power plant drawings, schematics, P&IDs, and single-line diagrams.
- Provide 24/7 emergency support as needed, including video and teleconferencing support and emergency travel within the United States.
- Safely work with energized equipment rated up to 13.8kV.
- Use strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve technical issues.
- Maintain strong attention to detail and a clear commitment to safety.
- Communicate effectively and build productive working relationships.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
- Open office environment when in office; ability to work in Field or in plants.
- Occasional work in harsh, dirty, and loud environments, at times in extreme weather, for extended hours.
- Wearing of appropriate PPE, Fall Protection, and Arc Flash clothing where required
- Approximately 50% travel to generation facilities, support facilities, and vendor sites
Requirements:
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Five (5) years of relevant experience in Power Generation or related industry
Preferred Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Engineering, or related degree field
- 10 yrs experience in power generation performing advance electrical and relay protection work
Additional KSAs
- Demonstrated project management, leadership, influence, and communication skills
- Thorough understanding and proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Confidence speaking in front of a group, including development and delivery of technical presentations
- Good writing skills
- Desire to work in a diverse and fast pace environment
- Successful completion of applicable trade school, or applicable military training
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in office, plant and field environments (_Frequency_: Constant)
- Ability to use keyboard and computer at long intervals (_Frequency_: Constant)
- Ability to walk around plant sites and spend time outdoors standing, bending, lifting to 50lbs, and walking (_Frequency_: Constant)
