Music Instructor – ‘Ukulele
Seeking an enthusiastic ukulele teacher who loves working with children and youth.
Under the supervision of the Executive Director and Artistic Director, the Music Instructor will be responsible for teaching ukulele class programs to elementary and middle school students in San Diego County School Districts. This position is for teaching during the academic school year (August - June as needed).
Duties Assigned:
a. Select and plan class content, which include opening and closing activities, age-appropriate repertoire for playing and singing, and a final week “sharing” performance for students and their families.
b. Set clear classroom expectations and provide positive behavior management.
c. Create engaging, educational, and interactive class sessions to inspire students through music.
d. Serve as a role model to all students in adherence to Classics 4 Kids Code of Conduct.
e. Interface with school staff as needed.
f. Work closely with Classics 4 Kids’ Artistic Director and program staff to make sure that all duties are handled efficiently.
What do we require from you?
� High School diploma, College degree in music or related field preferred.
� Musical background and ability to read music.
� At least 3 years of experience working with children.
� Passionate about working with elementary students and able to manage classroom effectively
� Effective interpersonal skills necessary
� A strong commitment to the mission, goals and work of Classics 4 Kids.
� Experience working with diverse youth populations.
� Maintain consistent communication through email, phone, and in person.
� Must possess strong time management skills.
� Must exercise good judgment, and be able to work accurately and independently.
� Attention to detail, and solid organizational abilities.
� Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
� Must have reliable transportation and a valid California driver’s license. Must complete a background and fingerprint check.
� Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
Job Types: Part-time, Temporary
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
