The Program Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of youth programming, ensuring high-quality engagement, curriculum implementation, staff supervision, and community collaboration. This role requires strong leadership, program management skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive environment for staff and youth participants.
Responsibilities
Program Supervision and Management
- Supervise, manage, and assist in delivering high-quality, engaging programming for youth on a daily basis, ensuring effective curriculum implementation and adequate support for line staff.
- Ensure that weekly targets for Rate of Participation (ROP) and Average Daily Attendance (ADA) are met as applicable to the program.
- Create a program schedule that includes core BGCMQ offerings such as Power Hour, STEAM activities, SEL leadership, literacy, and skill-driven sports.
- Collaborate with the Program Manager and supervisory staff to assess program effectiveness and evaluate staff performance.
Community Engagement and Recruitment
- Build and maintain relationships with the school, staff, members, and the community to enhance program initiatives.
- Actively recruit new members and maintain a waiting list for future enrollment as necessary. • Represent the organization at community events and meetings. • Organize regular parent engagement activities and culminating events in January, June, and August, when applicable. • Attend BRT/SLT meetings hosted by the school. • Facilitate quarterly parent advisory meetings.
Staff Development and Compliance
- Conduct interviews, provide 30/60/90 feedback, and ensure that staff meet the 30-hour SACC training requirements.
- Facilitate training sessions for line staff that address their needs and comply with SACC requirements.
- Complete at least 30 hours of training for personal professional development while meeting SACC training requirements.
- Work with the Program Manager to enroll line staff in SACC-regulated trainings (30 hours total each year).
- Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that values collaboration and innovation.
- Lead weekly staff meetings, create agendas, and distribute meeting summaries to staff and the Program Manager.
- Report program incidents to your Program Manager and funding program manager promptly, adhering to BGCMQ incident reporting policies as required.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Meet agency deadlines for planning and implementing monthly calendars, flyers, and other tasks.
- Maintain timely records and files for funders and the BGCMQ database system, ensuring accurate attendance data input.
- Complete and maintain all ACS responsibilities, including collecting, inputting, and regularly updating accurate data; completing daily attendance on CAPS; actively recruiting eligible families; and supporting the full ACS application process from initial submission through final voucher approval.
- Approve timesheets at the end of every pay period.
Additional Duties
- Plan and supervise OST (Out of School Time) holiday programs, trainings, and some weekend events.
- Actively participate in BGCMQ functions, events and trainings.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skill Requirement
- Bachelor’s degree required (preference in Education or Social Work).
- Must have at least 2 years of director experience.
- Must have at least 7 years’ experience managing staff.
- At least 3 years’ experience working in After School and implementing lessons.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with program staff, school, members, and community partners.
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills with proven ability to interact with a diverse range of individuals both in person and over the phone, applying tact and discretion as situations demand.
- Must have excellent organizational, time management and follow-up skills.
- Responsible and professional conduct that serves as role model to staff and youth.
