TITLE: Activities/Volunteer Coordinator
POSITION SUMMARY AND SUPERVISION: The Activities/Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the overall activities program for the Center, including designing and facilitating person-centered activities that support cognitive, emotional and physical well-being of participants living with memory impairment. The Activities/Volunteer Coordinator reports to the Program Director and is subject to all policies, guidelines and procedures of Page Robbins Adult Day Center, Inc.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Activities Certification related degree or activities training preferred
- At least 2 years coordinator experience in a long-term care/memory care
- Upbeat, communicative and empathic disposition
- Experience with seniors, especially the cognitively impaired preferred
- Computer skills for planning and implementing activities schedules (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Canva, CSR software, etc.)
- Excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Must be CPR/First Aid Certified or able to pass certification
- Must be able to withstand the essential environmental and physical demands necessary to perform the job, such as frequent walking, bending, reaching, turning, pulling, pushing and lifting 40 pounds
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
A. Plan, schedule, coordinate and oversee execution of daily activities:
1. Develop daily activities schedule to include physical, cognitive stimulation, music, art and spiritual activities
2. Collaborate with team members to develop and implement activities that are sensitive to differences in cognitive abilities and encompass participant interest
3. Seek out new activities and implement those regularly
4. Model and monitor execution of activities and train staff as needed
5. Plan and ensure activities are available for use
6. Develop monthly calendar to highlight certain events and special performances
7. Contact and confirm entertainers, presenters and volunteers offering special projects, such as antique car show and fire truck visit
8. Coordinate special events/visitors including pet therapy volunteers, special lunches, holiday celebrations, cookouts
9. Coordinate schedules for the Music, Art Consultants and Potter
10. Decorate bulletin boards and change display cabinets items
11. Observe client participation and interests and adjust activities as needed to reduce agitation and promote engagement
B. Volunteer Coordination:
1. Coordinate and direct assignments for those volunteering at the Center
2. Communicate with/manage volunteers/volunteer groups
3. Coordinate, manage and lead monthly Volunteer Orientations at the Center
4. Provide volunteer recommendation letters for students who need community
service hours documentation
C. Managing Supplies/Equipment
1. Assist in maintaining overall presentation and cleanliness of the Center, ensuring activity areas and activity storage areas are organized and adhere to all safety regulations
2. Maintain, order supplies and equipment for art and activities within budget
3. Decorate the Center for the season, holidays and special events
4. Schedule aquarium maintenance
5. Check emergency boxes periodically
D. Social Events/Other Duties
1. Circulate Birthday cards/certificates for special occasions, Get Well/Thinking of You and Sympathy cards for staff, volunteers, board, donors, etc.
2. Maintain birthday list and coordinate monthly birthday parties for clients
3. Coordinate and manage floral donations/other group donations
4. Coordinate with Garden Clubs for flower arranging
5. Collaborate with and assist staff members as needed with events/projects
Perform other duties as assigned.
Must keep client information confidential and the Center’s operations confidential.
Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour

Education:
- High school or equivalent (Required)
Experience:
- activity coordination in memory care: 2 years (Preferred)
License/Certification:
