Duties
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain optimal oral health.
- Assess patient oral health status by reviewing medical and dental histories, taking vital signs, and conducting oral examinations.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) ensuring proper technique and patient safety protocols are followed.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options to improve their dental health outcomes.
- Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficient workflow and patient comfort.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation within electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance at all times.
- Follow infection prevention management protocols by practicing aseptic techniques, sterilizing equipment, and adhering to healthcare infection control standards.
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to perform dental hygiene procedures.
- Proven experience working in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings with familiarity in pediatric dentistry practices preferred.
- Proficiency in using dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for patient management and documentation review.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding for accurate recordkeeping.
- Expertise in infection prevention management, healthcare infection control practices, and aseptic technique to ensure patient safety.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while maintaining patient comfort and following radiation safety guidelines.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively while maintaining confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations.
