About Us
Since 1990, Summit Industrial Flooring has been a trusted name in high-performance flooring for industrial and commercial facilities. We specialize in resinous floor systems, polished concrete, secondary containment coatings, and concrete restoration. With crews operating out of Dayton, OH, Charleston, SC, and Raleigh, NC, we serve clients across the eastern United States — from food production plants and chemical facilities to aerospace hangars, AI data centers, and Department of Defense installations. We're growing and looking for the right leader to grow with us.
The Role
We're hiring a Field Superintendent to run daily field operations for our Charleston division. This is a hands-on leadership role — you'll be out on jobsites with your crews, not behind a desk. What we need is a strong field leader who can run the crews, keep jobs on schedule, and make sure every hour on the clock is productive.
If you've got a background in industrial coatings, polished concrete, or a related construction trade and you know how to lead people in the field, this is your opportunity.
What You'll Do
Run day-to-day field operations across all active Charleston-area projects (with about 10-20% out of town work), including crew assignments, daily attendance, and scheduling. Directly supervise installation crews on-site — set expectations, maintain quality, and hold people accountable. Manage timesheet accuracy and ensure timely submission for all field personnel. Track budgeted vs. actual labor hours on every project and flag variances before they become problems. Coordinate with project managers and the office on materials, equipment, and manpower to keep projects moving. Enforce jobsite safety and maintain compliance with client requirements, OSHA standards, and DOD facility regulations. Operate and oversee specialized heavy equipment used in floor prep, grinding, and coating applications. Serve as the on-site point of contact for GCs, facility managers, and client reps. Help develop crew members and build the next generation of skilled installers on our team.
What We're Looking For
Experience in industrial coatings, polished concrete, or resinous flooring is strongly preferred — but if you're coming from concrete, painting, waterproofing, or general contracting with a solid track record of managing crews, we want to talk to you. We'll teach you the technical side. You need to be someone who can lead, schedule, and hold a crew accountable on an active jobsite. Mechanical aptitude is a plus — we run grinders, shot blasters, ride-on polishers, and other niche equipment. You should be comfortable working in industrial environments like manufacturing plants, warehouses, and defense facilities. Valid driver's license required. Must pass a drug screening and background check — we do a significant volume of work for the DOD and defense contractors.
Certifications such as AMPP, SSPC, or NACE are a bonus
