BDI Marine Contractors, LLC is seeking a motivated and dependable Safety Coordinator to join our team. We are a growing marine and civil construction company specializing in marine construction, concrete work, site work, and heavy civil projects.
The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for assisting with jobsite safety, employee training, OSHA compliance, inspections, incident documentation, and maintaining safety records. This position will work closely with management, project managers, superintendents, foremen, and field employees to help ensure company safety policies and procedures are being followed.
Responsibilities
- Conduct jobsite safety inspections and identify potential hazards
- Assist with OSHA and company safety compliance
- Help coordinate and document new hire safety training
- Conduct and/or assist with toolbox talks and safety meetings
- Maintain safety logs, inspection reports, and training records
- Assist with incident and accident investigations
- Help update and maintain the company safety manual and written safety programs
- Work with field supervisors to ensure safety requirements are being followed
- Track employee certifications and required training
- Communicate safety concerns and corrective actions to management
- Travel to project sites as needed
Qualifications
- 1–3+ years of safety experience preferred
- Construction safety experience preferred
- Marine, concrete, site work, or heavy civil experience is a plus
- OSHA knowledge preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work with field employees, supervisors, and management
- Comfortable conducting inspections, trainings, and documentation
- Proficient with email, Microsoft Office, and general computer use
- Valid driver’s license required
- Must be willing to travel to project sites as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 30 preferred
- Prior experience in construction safety, marine construction, or heavy civil work
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
