Welcome to Votruba Leather Company! Founded in 1874, we are incredibly proud to be Traverse City’s oldest retailer. We are seeking an exceptional full-time team member to work closely with our store manager and play a key role in the daily operation of our historic business.

This is an important operational role—not just a cashier position—for someone who wants to take ownership of their responsibilities, grow into greater leadership within a long-established local business, and contribute to the legacy of Votruba Leather Company.
What You Will Do
- Create Connections: Welcome customers, start engaging conversations, and provide attentive, professional service to people visiting from near and far.
- Become a Product Expert: Learn about Votruba's premium products, trusted brands, warranties, and materials so you can offer highly knowledgeable recommendations.
- Manage Store Operations: Confidently operate the point-of-sale system, process transactions, and handle opening and closing procedures accurately and consistently.
- Oversee Inventory: Receive shipments, verify quantities, price merchandise, and help manage inventory accuracy and reporting.
- Merchandise & Maintain: Keep our sales floor, window displays, and workspaces beautiful, organized, and reflective of Votruba's high-quality standards.
- Take Initiative: Stay productive during slower periods by researching products, organizing, and completing operational tasks independently.
What We Are Looking For
- Previous retail experience and a passion for exceptional customer service.
- A highly self-motivated professional who works well independently and stays productive in an active retail environment.
- Someone who takes pride in representing Traverse City's oldest store and maintaining a polished, professional business-casual appearance.
- Strong attention to detail and computer proficiency, including comfort with email, web-based systems, and inventory reporting.
- Dependability and availability to work a full-time retail schedule, including Saturdays, some Sundays, and select holidays to support our busy downtown seasons.
- A positive attitude and a demonstrated willingness to learn, ask questions, and grow with us.
Compensation & Benefits
- $18.50 - $20.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
