Come be a part of Amazon's Worldwide Engineering and Innovation (WWEI) organization, where we're building the next generation of logistics, sortation, and last-mile delivery technology. We sit at the intersection of physical operations and emerging technology — identifying, evaluating, and securing external partnerships, IP licensing deals, and acquisitions that give Amazon a durable competitive edge in how we move packages from warehouse to doorstep.
We are looking for a high-caliber, results-focused Principal Business Development professional to own the end-to-end evaluation, negotiation, and execution of technology partnerships and transactions that support Amazon's operations and logistics strategy. This person will identify external technologies and partners, build the business case, align internal stakeholders across legal, finance, and engineering, and drive deals to close on terms that protect Amazon’s interests. Equally important: knowing when to walk away from a deal that doesn't make sense.
This role sits within WWEI and works directly alongside engineering leads and senior leadership while partnering with Corporate Business Development. You'll serve as a trusted advisor to the business and be the person leaders turn to for sound commercial judgment on partnerships, licensing, and acquisition opportunities.
Key job responsibilities
- End-to-end deal ownership across technology partnerships, IP licensing, and acquisitions in logistics automation, sortation, and last-mile delivery
- Building the business case for external technology opportunities and aligning cross-functional stakeholders (legal, finance, engineering, supply chain, operations)
- Commercial negotiation with technical/engineering counterparts who think in product terms, not deal terms
- Advising senior leadership on deal quality, risk, and strategic fit
- Developing and maintaining relationships with external technology vendors, potential acquisition targets, and strategic partners
- Proactively seeking out new business models and partner opportunities, leveraging domain expertise and independent conviction
- Leading cross-functional teams including Engineering, Operations, Legal, Finance, and senior management to execute on partnerships
A day in the life
You'll operate at the intersection of emerging technology and commercial deal-making for Amazon's logistics and operations business. Your day might include evaluating an external automation solution, structuring an IP licensing deal with a technology partner, leading due diligence alongside WWEI engineering, or advising senior leadership on whether to pursue or walk away from a partnership opportunity. You'll interact regularly with senior Amazon leaders and executives from external technology companies, with the ability to influence strategic direction at the executive level. This is a fast-paced environment that values deal quality over volume, and commercial judgment over process.
