The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to own and improve the processes that keep our Michigan City floor running. This is a hands-on, high-impact role for someone who likes to be on the floor solving real problems — improving cycle times, dialing in tooling and fixtures, launching new parts, and driving quality and throughput. You will work directly with the Director of Engineering, production, and quality to make our operation faster, more reliable, and more cost-effective.
What You'll Do
- Develop, document, and continuously improve manufacturing processes, work instructions, and routings for cable assembly, stamping, and related operations.
- Design and specify tooling, fixtures, and gauging to improve quality, safety, and throughput.
- Lead new-product launches and process changes through APQP, PPAP, and PFMEA, coordinating with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Troubleshoot production and quality issues on the floor, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Drive continuous-improvement and lean initiatives (5S, cycle-time reduction, scrap and downtime reduction, capacity planning).
- Support capital equipment justification, selection, installation, and qualification.
- Partner with quality to maintain compliance with IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 requirements and customer-specific standards.
- Create and maintain process documentation, BOMs, and engineering change records.
What You Bring
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology (MET), Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a closely related engineering technology field.
- 5+ years of hands-on manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment (metal forming, stamping, machining, cable/wire assembly, or similar preferred).
- Proven track record improving processes — reducing cycle time, scrap, or cost while improving quality.
- Experience with APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, and control plans in an IATF 16949 or ISO 9001 environment.
- Proficiency with CAD (e.g., SolidWorks or AutoCAD) and Microsoft Office; ERP experience a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with production, quality, and customers.
Nice to Have
- Experience in automotive or consumer-product supply (Tier 1/Tier 2).
- Lean Six Sigma experience
- Continuous Improvement experience
- Fixturing and Poke-a-Yoke experience
- New program launch experience
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: $75,000–$85,000 per year, based on experience.
- Job Type: Full-time, exempt, benefit eligible.
- Benefits: Paid Holidays; Paid Vacation/Sick Time; Health, Vision, and Dental Insurance; Disability Insurance; Life Insurance; Flexible Spending Account; 401(k) with employer match; Discretionary Bonus Program; Education Assistance; and Professional Development.
Work Setting
- On-site at our Michigan City, IN facility during normal business hours.
