We are seeking experienced Industrial Electricians for 2nd and 3rd shift positions supporting our foundry and machining operations.
We are looking for dependable, hardworking electricians who take pride in troubleshooting difficult equipment problems and getting machines back into production. The right candidate should be comfortable working independently, following a problem from start to finish, and digging beyond the obvious cause instead of simply replacing parts.
Strong industrial electrical troubleshooting skills are essential. Candidates should have hands-on experience with 480V electrical systems, motor controls, VFDs, PLC-controlled equipment, sensors, automation systems, and production machinery.
We value electricians who are reliable, willing to learn, willing to help where needed, and able to stay focused when production equipment is down. Experience with foundry equipment, furnaces, molding systems, CNC machines, robotics, and other heavy industrial equipment is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
· Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial electrical and control systems.
· Diagnose equipment failures and follow problems through to root cause.
· Work safely with 24VDC, 120VAC, and 480VAC electrical systems.
· Use multimeters and other electrical diagnostic equipment.
· Troubleshoot and maintain PLC-controlled machinery and automation systems.
· Troubleshoot electrical components of foundry and machining equipment, including furnaces, conveyors, sand systems, mold-making machines, casting equipment, lathes, drills, mills, CNCs, and robotics.
· Respond to production breakdowns and work efficiently to restore equipment to service.
· Work independently while communicating clearly with production and maintenance personnel.
Installation & Wiring
· Install, wire, troubleshoot, and repair motors, drives, sensors, relays, contactors, and control systems.
· Install, configure, and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
· Install and troubleshoot soft starters and motor-control systems.
· Troubleshoot and work with 4–20mA analog instrumentation and process-control devices.
· Bend and install rigid conduit for new and modified equipment.
PLC, Automation & Troubleshooting
· Independently troubleshoot electrical, PLC, CNC, robotic, and automation systems to minimize equipment downtime.
· Connect to PLCs and navigate program logic as part of the troubleshooting process.
· Diagnose PLC-controlled equipment using program logic, I/O status, alarms, and field devices.
· Use PLC logic to identify field-device, electrical, mechanical, and control-system problems.
· Read and follow robot and CNC programs when assisting with equipment troubleshooting and recovery.
· Read, interpret, and update electrical schematics and technical documentation.
· Use a systematic troubleshooting approach rather than relying on trial-and-error part replacement.
· Identify root causes of electrical and automation failures and implement corrective actions.
Maintenance & Safety
· Perform preventive and predictive electrical maintenance.
· Document repairs and maintenance activities in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
· Follow OSHA, NFPA 70E, NEC, and company electrical-safety requirements.
· Use appropriate PPE and safe electrical work practices.
· Support emergency electrical and automation repairs to minimize production downtime.
· Assist and provide technical guidance to other electricians and maintenance personnel.
· Maintain reliable attendance and be available for scheduled shift coverage, weekends, and overtime as required.
Qualifications & Skills
· Strong industrial electrical troubleshooting experience.
· Demonstrated ability to systematically troubleshoot equipment problems and determine root cause.
· Strong knowledge of 480V three-phase power, industrial controls, motor controls, and electrical wiring.
· Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled machinery.
· Ability to use electrical testing equipment, including multimeters and circuit testers.
· Ability to connect to PLCs, navigate program logic, and use PLC information as a troubleshooting tool.
· Experience with VFDs, motor starters, sensors, relays, and industrial control systems.
· Ability to read electrical prints, ladder diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
· Familiarity with CNC and robotic systems.
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
· Dependable, hardworking, and willing to follow problems through until they are resolved.
· Strong communication skills and willingness to work as part of a maintenance and production team.
· Strong commitment to electrical and workplace safety.
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and work in a hot, dusty, and noisy industrial environment.
· Ability to work 2nd or 3rd shift, weekends, and overtime as required.
Preferred Qualifications
· Previous industrial electrical maintenance experience in a foundry, machine shop, or other heavy manufacturing environment.
· Experience troubleshooting Allen-Bradley PLC and automation systems.
· Experience with industrial robotics and CNC equipment.
· Ability to safely jog robots and CNC equipment during troubleshooting and equipment recovery.
· Ability to review robot programs and follow program execution step-by-step when diagnosing equipment problems.
· Knowledge of NFPA 70E electrical-safety procedures.
· Experience with medium-voltage electrical systems is a plus.
· Forklift or aerial-lift certification is a plus.
· Technical or trade-school training in industrial electricity, controls, automation, or a related field is preferred.
Work Environment
This position works in active foundry and machine-shop environments. Employees may be exposed to high temperatures, molten metal, electrical equipment, coolant, dust, noise, and heavy machinery.
