This role will be responsible for overseeing the logistics processes to ensure timely, cost-effective, and efficient delivery of materials.
Key Responsibilities (More logistics oriented):
- Manage the procurement of materials, services, and supplies required by the organization, ensuring the best possible price and delivery terms.
- Collaborate with internal teams (such as production, R&D, and finance) to assess and understand procurement needs, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers, negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and service agreements.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with logistics to ensure timely delivery of raw materials and products, minimizing delays and stockouts.
- Oversee the logistics process, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective transport of goods from suppliers to the production facility.
- Track shipments and manage shipping documents to ensure that deliveries are completed on time and in accordance with quality standards.
- Manage logistics partners (e.g., third-party logistics providers, freight forwarders) to optimize transportation routes, freight costs, and service delivery.
- Maintain accurate records of procurement transactions, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Analyze procurement and logistics data to identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.
- Coordinate the timely receipt of materials and ensure proper handling, storage, and distribution of goods within the plant.
- Work closely with the accounting team to resolve any discrepancies in billing or shipping.
- Assist in the preparation of procurement budgets, forecasts, and reports for senior management.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements in the procurement and logistics processes.
- Continuously evaluate and improve procurement strategies and logistics operations to enhance operational efficiency.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, or related field.
- Experience in procurement and logistics management preferred, specifically within the chemical or manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes, vendor management, and logistics operations.
- Proficiency in procurement and logistics software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze procurement data and logistics metrics to drive decision-making.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems is a plus.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
