The Lensic Performing Arts Center is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accountant to join our Finance team. This position plays an important role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization.
The ideal candidate will have strong accounting fundamentals, experience with QuickBooks Desktop, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines with a high degree of accuracy. Experience with nonprofit accounting is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage accounts payable, including invoice processing, coding, vendor records, and payment preparation.
- Manage accounts receivable, including creating show settlement, recording payments, and monitoring outstanding balances.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, and other balance sheet accounts.
- Review daily transaction and settlement reports and identify, research, and resolve discrepancies between ticketing, payment processing, banking, and accounting systems.
- Prepare and maintain supporting documentation for financial transactions and reconciliations.
- Assist with annual audit preparation and provide documentation requested by auditors.
- Support year-end tax and compliance reporting, including preparation of W-2s, W-3s, 1099s, 1041s, and other required filings.
- Assist the Director of Finance with financial reporting, account analysis, and other accounting projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience in accounting or bookkeeping will be considered.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Office (particularly Excel), is required.
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and nonprofit accounting principles is strongly preferred.
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger accounting, and account reconciliations.
