Dental Hygienist Job Description Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Dental Hygienist to join our dental team. The ideal candidate is dedicated to providing exceptional patient care, promoting oral health education, and supporting the dentist in delivering high-quality dental services. This role requires strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to creating a positive patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform dental cleanings, prophylaxis, scaling, and root planing procedures.
- Conduct patient assessments, including reviewing medical histories and evaluating oral health conditions.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) in accordance with state regulations.
- Screen patients for signs of oral disease, including periodontal disease, cavities, and oral cancer.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment recommendations.
- Apply preventive treatments such as fluoride and sealants.
- Document patient findings, treatment plans, and procedures accurately in electronic dental records.
- Assist the dentist during examinations and treatment planning.
- Ensure compliance with infection control, sterilization, and OSHA guidelines.
- Maintain dental equipment and operatory areas in a clean and organized manner.
- Build positive relationships with patients and contribute to a welcoming office environment.
QualificationsRequired
- Associate degree or higher in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program.
- Current Dental Hygienist license in the state of practice.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Knowledge of dental hygiene procedures, infection control protocols, and dental software systems.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience in a general dentistry practice.
- Familiarity with digital radiography and electronic health records.
- Local anesthesia certification (if applicable by state regulations).

Pay: $54.57 - $65.72 per hour
