Sheet Metal Fabricator & Stainless Steel TIG Welder

Employment Type: Full-Time, 40+ hours per week
We are a growing company in Brighton, Michigan, seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Fabricator & Stainless Steel TIG Welder to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with TIG welding stainless steel and a proven ability to produce clean, high-quality welds.
Compensation will be based on experience and demonstrated welding and fabrication skills, with an emphasis on weld quality and workmanship.
Responsibilities
- Read and accurately interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and work specifications to guide fabrication and welding processes.
- Perform MIG and TIG welding on a variety of metals, including sheet metal and stainless steel.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, press brakes, and machining equipment to cut, form, and assemble metal components.
- Fabricate custom parts and assemblies by cutting, bending, welding, and assembling metal according to project specifications.
- Take precise measurements using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
- Apply basic mathematical skills to ensure accurate measurements, layouts, and fabrication.
- Safely operate forklifts and other equipment used to transport and position materials.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all applicable safety procedures.
- Work collaboratively with team members on mechanical fabrication and assembly projects.
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and project specifications.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in manufacturing, metal fabrication, or a related field.
- Proven proficiency in TIG welding, particularly stainless steel.
- Experience with MIG welding.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, plasma cutting equipment, press brakes, and machining equipment.
- Experience operating a forklift.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Basic math skills necessary for precision measurements and fabrication.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
- Valid Michigan driver's license with a good driving record. Driving records will be verified through our insurance company prior to employment.
Work Schedule
This is a 40+ hour-per-week position with opportunities for overtime. Overtime may be mandatory at times based on workload and production requirements.
Candidates must be willing and able to:
- Work 10-hour shifts.
- Work Saturdays when required.
- Work additional overtime as needed.
