Job summary:
The Shipping Specialist performs a variety of material handling functions to load, unload trailers and move materials within the plant. Capable of working with inventory control through utilization of ERP/MRP software. Familiar with and capable of using various types of lifting equipment.
Job duties and responsibilities:

Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.

Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.

Determines space requirements and position of shipment on trucks.

Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, and seals loaded truck doors as needed.

Inspects equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel.

Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas.

Posts weight and shipping charges and prepares bills of lading, as needed.

Maintains and restocks the warehouse or parts cage while adjusting for errors.

Reads and interprets blueprints and machine drawings to determine specific material requirements.

Uses a variety of hand tools and material handling machines such as; chop saw, cutting torch, hand grinders, hand tools, belt sander, forklifts, pallet jacks, overhead hoist, hand trucks and band cutters.

Performs cycle counts as required.

Utilizes scanning devices and technology to process inventory movements within the business system.
Job Requirements

A qualified candidate will have a high school diploma, GED, or at least 1-3 months of related experience.

Must be able to obtain the FAST forklift certification.

Must have basic language and math skills and reasoning ability.

Must be able to stand and walk continuously and reach/bend frequently over the course of an entire shift.

Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.

Must have manual dexterity and be able to maintain a frequent firm grasp.

Must be able to operate a foot pedal for forklift and machine operation.

Must be able to pass a physical strength test to perform the job.

Vision with depth perception is required.
-
Ability to work in varying temperatures and levels of humidity.

Personal protective equipment will be provided by FAST and must be worn in the required areas.
