American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN for a 13-week travel contract in Maine, requiring an active ME or Compact RN license and at least 1 year of ED experience.

Emergency Department (ED) setting in a hospital environment

Day shift: 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM

13-week contract assignment

Patients across all age groups requiring emergency nursing care

Active Maine or Compact RN license, currently in hand
-
BSN preferred
-
Minimum 1 year of ED nursing experience required
-
Current, unexpired BLS required; ACLS preferred

Required immunizations: Varicella (2 doses or titer), HepB (3 doses, titer, or signed declination), MMR (2 doses or titer), Tdap, and PPD 2-step or titer within the past 12 months

Flu shot required during flu season

Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and perform physical tasks including standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, crouching, bending, reaching, and pushing patients in wheelchairs and stretchers

Visual and hearing acuity sufficient to assess patients

Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and verbal/written communication skills
-
Performs age-appropriate initial and ongoing nursing assessments across all patient populations

Develops and implements individualized plans of care based on patient needs and physician orders
-
Administers and evaluates patient response to medications using med verify system
-
Conducts patient and family education and ensures understanding of discharge plans, including follow-up calls post-discharge
-
Participates in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and bedside rounding with hospitalists and case managers
-
Actively contributes to hospital-wide Quality Improvement initiatives and department-specific projects
-
Expected to participate in emergency/disaster preparedness planning and response within the scope of professional ability

Onboarding process begins with reporting to Human Resources on day 1

Potential exposure to infectious diseases, bloodborne pathogens, toxic cleaning chemicals, and fumes
