SALARY: Level 9 on the Secretarial/Clerical Salary Schedule. Experience increments depend on experience in the same or similar permanent position within a Washington State public school.

Three years of recent secretarial/related office work experience. Two years of school district experience preferred.

Typing skills – 50 words per minute accurately.

Demonstrated excellence of current grammar, punctuation, spelling practices, word usage, proofreading, and statistics.

Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication.

Demonstrated accuracy in record keeping and maintaining budgets.

Demonstrated organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to utilize a variety of software programs such as Windows, which includes MS Word or WordPerfect, Powerpoint, Publisher or related software, IFAS, payroll software, Excel or spreadsheet software, Nutrition Services food program software, School Dude, and PowerSchool.

Knowledge of additional office equipment specific to the position.

Familiarity with insurance claims processing and district transportation system preferred.

Physical/Mental/Motor Demands:
While performing duties of this position, the employee experiences frequent sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, and repetitive fine motor activities. Hearing and speech to communicate in person, via video conference and computers, or over the telephone. Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment. Stamina to remain seated and maintain concentration for an extended period of time. Vision: Frequent near acuity, occasional far acuity, and color vision. Vision to read printed and online materials, computer screens, or other monitoring devices. Strength is generally sedentary/light - exert force up to 20 lbs., occasionally; 10 lbs. frequently; negligible force, constantly.
Work Environment
Climate-controlled office setting with temperatures ranging from mild to moderate cold/heat. Exposure to noise levels ranging from moderate to loud for occasional to frequent time periods. May include driving school buses or other district vehicles in various road and weather conditions.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee often performs routine work. The employee frequently exercises flexibility (ability to shift from one task to another). The employee frequently works within time constraints and maintains attentiveness intensity. The employee is frequently involved in social interactions which require oral and written communication.

Employees can choose from a lifetime retirement pension plan or a hybrid pension and investment plan that contributes between 5% and 15% of wages to retirement. When employees meet plan requirements and retire, they are guaranteed a monthly benefit for the rest of their life from the employer-funded pension.
