SUMMARY:

This is an administrative position assigned to the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County, Criminal Division, Adult Probation. General working hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 4:30 pm. Work hours may be adjusted based on agency need. This positionis responsible for administering a validated risk-needs assessment on individuals under adult probation and parole supervision. Assessors also engage in additional support staff functions. Assessors are expected to work both independently and as part of a team, generally following routine procedures that are regularly reviewed by the Assessment Unit supervisor. Initiative, independent judgement, flexibility, and ongoing training are required.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. A bachelor’s degree with major course work in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field is preferred.
Knowledge of motivational interviewing; knowledge of evidence-based practices; knowledge of risk-needs assessments. Must be able to establish and facilitate strong, clear, and open communication with supervised individuals. Must exercise good judgment in interactions with supervised individuals.
General working knowledge of a computer and relevant office equipment.
General office conditions require the ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, and travel to multiple locations as needed. Manual dexterity and range of hearing/vision sufficient to operate fast paced modern office. Ability to deal with stress associated with time driven, multi-tasked, diverse work environment. Ability to make judgement decisions and adapt to changing work situations. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Licensebrequirements include Pennsylvania Driver’s License, Act 33 and Act 34 Clearances, and criminal background check are required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assessors must pass the Ohio Risk Assessment System (ORAS) training.
Assessors will administer the ORAS to determine risk levels and identify criminogenic needs.
After completing the ORAS, assessors will make appropriate referrals to service providers in the community to address the identified criminogenic needs and court-ordered conditions.
Assessors will review criminal history reports on supervised individuals to complete the ORAS.
Assessors will complete DNA registration and urinalysis screening as part of the assessment process, as necessary.
Assessors must know and abide by Adult Probation policies, including but not limited to the Code of Conduct, Harassment policy, and other Fifth Judicial District of Pennsylvania policies.
At the employer’s discretion, an employee may be asked to perform additional duties and tasks as deemed necessary.
