Position Summary
West River Valley Thrives (WRVT) is seeking a part-time Rural Community Outreach & Communications Coordinator to strengthen community partnerships, increase awareness of prevention initiatives, and expand outreach across the West River Valley. This position will support communications, community engagement, prevention campaigns, and coalition activities while building relationships with schools, retailers, businesses, healthcare providers, municipalities, and other community partners.
Responsibilities
● Build relationships with community partners, schools, retailers, businesses, municipalities, and healthcare providers.
● Travel throughout the WRVT service area to conduct outreach visits, distribute prevention materials, and support coalition initiatives.
● Assist with environmental prevention strategies, including Sticker Shock campaigns, responsible retail efforts, and community awareness campaigns.
● Represent WRVT at community meetings, events, health fairs, and outreach opportunities.
● Develop and manage newsletters, press releases, flyers, website updates, and other communications.
● Assist with planning and promoting community events, family engagement activities, and prevention campaigns.
● Document outreach activities, maintain communication metrics, and assist with grant reporting.
● Collaborate with WRVT staff to implement coalition goals and annual work plans.
Qualifications
● Associate's or Bachelor's degree in communications, public health, education, marketing, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
● Strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
● Experience with social media, Canva, Microsoft Office, and basic website management.
● Ability to work independently and build strong community relationships.
● Reliable transportation and willingness to travel throughout the WRVT service area.
Preferred Qualifications
● Knowledge of the Townshend, Newfane, Jamaica, Wardsboro, Brookline, Windham, and Marlboro communities.
● Experience in community outreach, prevention, public health, youth development, nonprofit work, or communications.
● Familiarity with rural communities, coalition-building, responsible retail initiatives, and prevention campaigns.
Compensation
● 10–15 hours per week
● Flexible schedule
● Hourly wage of $22/hr
