Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Survey Crew Chief to join our team. This position is primarily focused on construction layout and as-built survey projects, and candidates must have previous successful experience working as a Survey Crew Chief on such projects.
The ideal candidate will be confident leading field crews, working independently, maintaining accuracy in fast-paced environments, and communicating effectively with office staff, project managers, contractors, and clients.
This position requires strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and the ability to consistently deliver high-quality work in the field.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise survey field crews
- Perform boundary, topographic, construction layout, and as-built surveys
- Operate GPS equipment, robotic total stations, and data collectors
- Read and interpret survey plans, construction drawings, and engineering documents
- Ensure accurate field measurements, notes, and data collection
- Coordinate daily field activities and communicate project updates with office staff
- Maintain survey equipment and company vehicles
- Follow company safety procedures and job site requirements
- Provide excellent customer service and represent the company professionally
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of Crew Chief surveying experience
- Experience with construction layout, as-built, boundary, and topographic surveys
- Proficient with GPS and robotic total station equipment
- Ability to read and understand survey and engineering plans
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to remain professional and productive in challenging or high-pressure situations
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Requirements
- Must be able to pass a drug screening
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Must successfully complete a paid 3-5 day field evaluation period prior to hire to assess qualifications, work performance, and team compatibility
