Position Overview
The Project Manager is responsible for the successful execution of HVAC, sheet metal, and mechanical piping construction projects, from initial estimating through final completion and close-out. This role involves overseeing project planning, scheduling, resource allocation, budgeting, and quality control while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards. The Project Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and internal teams, ensuring timely and profitable project completion.
The Project Manager serves as a key liaison between owners, contractors, subcontractors, vendors, the BIM team, service personnel, Project Engineers, field operations, and company leadership. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong mechanical construction knowledge, sound business judgment, leadership, organization, and the ability to proactively identify and resolve project issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage project schedules for HVAC, sheet metal, and mechanical piping construction, ensuring progress toward key milestones and contractual deadlines.
- Lead projects from estimating and turnover through construction, commissioning, final completion, and close-out.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for owner representatives and maintain positive, professional relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
- Communicate project objectives, schedules, budgets, priorities, and performance expectations clearly to the Project Team.
- Coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and other resources to support efficient project execution.
- Review project submittals for accuracy and completeness, coordinate required approvals, and release equipment and materials in accordance with the project schedule.
- Participate in project coordination meetings and communicate project requirements, schedules, and changes with the BIM team and other project stakeholders.
- Monitor project budgets, labor hours, material costs, and other expenses to support profitable project completion.
- Review project performance regularly and proactively identify schedule, cost, manpower, procurement, or coordination issues that could affect project success.
- Interface with subcontractors, vendors, manufacturers, and trade partners to coordinate work and ensure timely completion of project activities.
- Coordinate with field leadership to ensure work is properly planned, resourced, sequenced, and executed.
- Coordinate equipment start-up activities with manufacturers and the internal service group to support successful project turnover.
- Provide direction, coaching, and support to Project Engineers to promote productivity, technical knowledge, project understanding, and professional growth.
- Identify problems early, develop practical solutions, and use available resources and expertise to keep projects moving forward.
- Maintain timely and accurate project documentation and ensure project close-out requirements are completed.
- Provide regular executive-level reporting to company leadership regarding project status, schedule, financial performance, risks, and key issues.
- Promote and enforce safe work practices and compliance with applicable Federal and State safety requirements, while actively managing project safety risk.
- Communicate and uphold the Company's commitment to integrity and Code of Ethics and ensure those standards are reflected throughout the project team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Abilities
- Bachelor's degree in construction management preferred but not required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of construction-related experience in mechanical contracting, HVAC, sheet metal, and/or mechanical piping construction.
- Strong understanding of mechanical construction project management, including scheduling, budgeting, resource coordination, subcontractor management, and project close-out.
- Ability to read, interpret, and work effectively with project plans, specifications, schedules, submittals, and other construction documents.
- Experience coordinating multiple project stakeholders, including owners, contractors, subcontractors, vendors, manufacturers, field personnel, and internal teams.
- Strong financial awareness and the ability to monitor labor hours, material costs, project expenses, and overall project profitability.
- Creative and results-oriented, with a strong sense of urgency, accountability, and self-motivation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both field and office personnel.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with an adaptable and flexible approach to working with different individuals and situations.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide, motivate, coach, and hold team members accountable.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer applications and software relevant to project management and administration.

Classification & Compensation
- This is a full-time, permanent, exempt position.
- Salary range varies based on experience, skills, abilities, and length of service with the Company.
