Lead Fleet Mechanic - Oak Park, MI - $35–$40/Hour + Overtime + Profit Sharing + Excellent Benefits
Are you an experienced diesel mechanic looking for a stable leadership role with a well-maintained fleet and a schedule that gives you your weekends back?
We're seeking a hands-on Lead Fleet Mechanic to oversee the maintenance and repair of a diverse fleet of more than 50 vehicles and equipment pieces. This is primarily a shop-based position (approximately 90%), with only occasional field service work. You'll work alongside one additional mechanic while helping manage fleet maintenance programs and keeping operations running efficiently.

- Heavy-duty trucks, including Ford F-450 and F-550 units
- Kubota and John Deere tractors
- Landscape and snow removal equipment
- Hydraulic and PTO systems
- Diagnostics and troubleshooting using modern tooling
- Mechanical repairs and component replacements
- Preventive maintenance scheduling and fleet tracking software
- Supporting and mentoring one other technician
Required:
- 3–5 years of diesel mechanic experience
- Strong hydraulic and PTO knowledge
- Experience with diagnostic software and tooling
- Experience working on heavy trucks, tractors, and equipment
- Valid driver's license
- Your own quality tools (including 3/4" drive and larger specialty tools)
- Team-oriented attitude with a strong work ethic
Preferred:
- Previous fleet maintenance or shop leadership experience
- Bilingual abilities
- Industry certifications (not required)
- Monday–Thursday: 6:30 AM – 4:30 PM
- Fridays: On-call only (weekend calls are rare)
- Typical work week: 40–45 hours
- Overtime paid after 40 hours
