ABOUT THE POSITION: The Accountant position is responsible for supporting the accounting team in preparing monthly journal entries and account reconciliations as well as performing financial analysis, supporting AR/ AP and inventory control functions. This position reports directly to the Accounting Manager, serving as an onsite team player and contributing to Shop Vac USA, SK Tools USA and Tesa PMI business success by performing various accounting and control functions and assisting in the preparation/reconciliation of financial reports and anaylses.
KEY RESPONSIBITIES:
. Assist in preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement and other reports.
. Sustantiate financial transactions by auditing documents.
. Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
. Verify allocate, post and reconcile transactions.
. Prepare special financial reports by collecting, analyzing and summarzing account information.
. Assist in completion of internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
. Support month-end and year-end close processes.
. Maintain the Fixed Asset and CIP systems and perform physical asset inventory audits.
. Provide monthy tacking and month-end accruals and reporting including; Prepaids, Operating expenses, Payables, Freight, Utilities and other Receivables, etc.
. Handle various P & L & Balance Sheet monthly closing tasks including journal entry preparation and reivew of GR/IR balances.
. Reconcile balance sheets accounts each month as assigned.
. Prepare and file monthly and quarterly sales and use tax returns.
. Assist with maintenance of W9 database.
. Review daily cycle count transactions, route for approval and prepare month accuracy reports.
. Prepare micellaneous invoicing for intercompany services.
. Primary backup and support for AP and AR functions.
. Perform other duties/projects as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
. Accounting/Finance experience, internships and co-ops accepted (1+ years preferred),
. Experience in manufacturing/distribution environment or consumer products company preferred but not required.
. Knowledge of income statement preparation, balance sheet analysis, working knowledge of GAAP and internal control procedures.
. Strong proficiency level in Microsoft Office Excel and building spreadsheets.
. Detail-oriented and thorough.
. Team Player who is also a self-starter with the ability to work independently and show initiative.
. Strong oral and written communication skills.
. SAP experience a plus.
